Count Me In: A Family Caregiver Advocacy Event

Two hours together to take action so that family caregivers have the help and support they deserve.

10:00 AM–Noon ET / 9:00–11:00 AM CT / 7:00–9:00 AM PT  ·  Virtual

01Why We're Gathering

We believe support needs to find you, and your work deserves to be reimbursed. Since May, you've told us about the value of your work with our Non-Reimbursed Family Caregiver Savings Calculator. Your value becomes our data that drives our action. Check out our data to date:

83.7% select Emotional Support, more than Personal Care
~$165K average annual non-reimbursed value
33.4 care responsibilities carried, on average, out of 53
~$1B total documented lifetime value and counting

02What Two Hours Will Cover

Welcome. A warm start to our two hours together.
Our data. "Focused on the Few, Missing the Many": what family caregivers have told us through the Non-Reimbursed Family Caregiver Savings Calculator, and why emotional support and technology support outranking hands-on personal care changes how support should be designed and funded.
Two interactive exercises. Bring your experience to life, and bring it with you when you log off.
  • Six Word Stories. We'll write six-word stories to amplify our experiences on social media.
  • Doodle. We'll draw out our complicated experiences to illustrate the demanding work we do for the systems.
The three asks. A plain-language walk-through of what we're asking Medicare to clarify, what we're asking home health to recognize, and what we're asking state legislatures to add to the CARE Act.
How to add your voice. Three concrete actions you can take before you log off: submit a CMS comment, contact a state legislator, or simply share your own number.
Live Q&A and closing. Your questions, your stories, and a look at what's ahead, including the white paper and our path toward congressional testimony.

03The Three Asks We're Building Toward

These are three separate, deliberate asks, aimed at three different decision-makers, because a comment letter that tries to ask everyone for everything asks no one for anything.

Ask CMS

Clarify that existing "social and emotional support" billing language already covers the family caregiver as a direct recipient, not only the patient.

Ask CMS

Recognize home health agencies as a delivery channel for family caregiver coaching, with no conflict with existing Part A billing.

Ask State Legislatures

Add a mandatory referral to caregiver coaching within the CARE Act's existing hospital discharge notification requirement.

Come As You Are, in Whatever Stage You're In

Whether you're a family caregiver now, were one in the past, or simply believe family caregivers deserve better support, your voice belongs in this room. Bring your number. Bring your questions.
