Medicare Reimbursement for Peer Support Specialists and Community Health Workers

Beginning in 2024, Medicare will reimburse for services provided by peer support specialists. Per Medicare's 2024 final ruling: "Specifically, we are finalizing to pay separately for Community Health Integration, Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Risk Assessment, and Principal Illness Navigation services to account for resources when clinicians involve certain types of health care support staff such as community health workers, care navigators, and peer support specialists in furnishing medically necessary care."

Our Certified Caregiving Consultant and Comfort Care Family Coach training programs meet the training and certification requirements of peer support specialists.

In 2024, we'll add modules to both programs so that program graduates add the Community Health Professional designation. When you enroll today, our Community Health Professional modules will be added to your training material at no charge.
