When we care for a family member, we crave support from another who gets it.
I got that insight soon after I launched an online caregiving community in 1996.
📚 I also got that supporting a family caregiver requires a specific skill set and knowledge base. While the life coach training I completed in 2004 gave me a good start, it didn’t give me a comprehensive training program I could use to support family caregivers.
So I built that extensive training program, debuting the Certified Caregiving Consultant training in 2016.
The Caregiving Coaching Impact
Because I want to stay current with both family caregivers and training program participants, I still coach family caregivers.
I connected with a client and her three adult daughters during a coaching session earlier this week. The honesty the four shared about the difficulty of managing a personal caregiving experience touched each of us.
It was a conversation that had not happened between the four of them before that session. The session closed with a care plan that each can use to feel better during their days.
I’m still processing how meaningful that session was.
I don’t want to be the only one, though, delivering this kind of impact.
