Beginning Again Virtual Retreat Registration

Please join us for five days beginning August 3 for a special event to support those adjusting to life after the death of a family member. During our retreat, Beginning Again, we’ll connect you to support and resources to help you heal and find your next steps forward.

Through our retreat, we hope we provide you a break by connecting you to others who understand. We also want our retreat to feel like a chance for you to reflect so you can receive and begin to recover.

You are welcome to join us if a family member recently died, died within the past year or has died a few years ago. You also may want to join us if you care for a family member and worry about your own future after that family member’s death. Our goal is to help you heal and we understand healing has its own timetable.

  • August 4: Our Work. How do we do our work even as we grieve? How can our work reflect our current values and priorities? How can our career help our advocacy work?
  • August 5: Our Relationships. How can we find forgiveness and healing in our relationships? How can we take steps to create new relationships?
  • August 6: Our Loose Ends. How do we stay organized as we settle our family member’s estate and close out details relating to our family member’s life and death?

About Us

Denise M. Brown launched The Caregiving Years Training Academy after selling CareGiving.com, which she launched in 1996, in March 2020. She now focuses on developing and leading training programs for family caregivers, former family caregivers and anyone interested in the personal caregiving experience.

Denise launched several initiatives to ensure the voice and experiences of family caregivers receive the spotlight they deserve. Her research focused on putting a number on the stress family caregivers feel: 4.14 on a scale of 1 to 5 with 5 being the most stressed. She launched her first online caregiving support group in 1996 and was the first to feature family caregiver blogs. She convened a National Caregiving Conference for four years (2016-2019), hosted a 36-Hour Christmas Chat to ensure all family caregivers and family caregivers received support and friendship over the holidays, and celebrated their creative side with an online Caregiving Art Show.

Denise began working with family caregivers in 1990 and feels grateful for the opportunity to serve.
