About Denise
Denise M. Brown launched The Caregiving Years Training Academy in March 2020 after selling CareGiving.com, which she launched in 1996, to Ohio’s Hospice. She now focuses on developing and leading training programs for family caregivers, former family caregivers and anyone interested in the personal caregiving experience.
Denise launched several initiatives to ensure the voice and experiences of family caregiver receive the spotlight they deserve. She launched her first online caregiving support group in 1996 and was the first to feature family caregiver blogs. In 1997, she developed a concept to stage the caregiving experience called The Caregiving Years, Six Stages to a Meaningful Journey. Over the past 27 years, she has refined the concept to ensure it reflects today’s caregiving reality. She convened a National Caregiving Conference for four years (2016-2019), hosted a 36-hour Christmas chat for six years and celebrated creative side of family caregivers with an online Caregiving Art Show. Her research shined a light on family caregiver stress, the needs of working family caregivers and challenges faced by family caregivers. She was a Next Avenue 2017 Influencer in Aging. Her insights have been featured in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, US News & World Report, USA Today, SmartMoney.com, Time magazine and Chicago Tribune. Learn more about Denise’s work.
