Caregiving Support Training for Auxiliary Professionals
We offer Caregiving Training for Community Health Workers, care navigators, and peer support specialists that empowers you to support family caregivers in your communities. Our training includes system navigation, planning support and caregiving education.
Our training is especially timely given Medicare's decision to reimburse for Community Health Integration, Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) Risk Assessment, and Principal Illness Navigation services for helping families on behalf of the patient and for supporting the patient who is also the family caregiver. In addition, Medicare recently released its Guiding an Improved Dementia Experience (GUIDE) Model, which includes support for family caregivers.
You'll also find these training programs helpful if you would like to educate family caregivers in your community, both virtually and in person. You'll also want to enroll if you'd like to better understand how to help and support family caregivers through system navigation, planning tools, education and support services.
We also are approved to provide 30 CEUs for allied health professionals including nurses, social workers, Certified Dementia Practitioners® and Certified Senior Advisors®. Learn more about earning CEUs.
Two Designations
Our 30-hour training provides two designations:
- Certified Caregiving Systems Navigator: You help families find the resources, services and support they need as they manage the care of another.
- Certified Caregiving Guide: You teach family caregivers how to manage their experiences by delivering The Caregiving Years, Navigating the Caregiving Stages and Systems, our evidence-based proprietary program.
You also receive our Certified Caregiving Advocate training at no cost. The Advocate training empowers you to inform, support and inspire family caregivers through social media and community campaigns.

Certified Caregiving Navigator Training
You complete 10 hours of on-demand training (our Caregiving Master Classes) and then join 6 hours of live training to learn how to create plans to connect family caregivers to resources, support and help. You receive immediate access to the on-demand training after enrolling.
After you complete the archived training, you join Denise for live training. Our live training happens over two Mondays -- the first and second Mondays for three hours beginning at 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. CT, 11 a.m. PT). The next live training will happen in May.
System navigation is confusing, exhausting and discouraging for family caregivers. With your support, you can connect them to solutions. With our tools, our Caregiving Wheels, you lead effective conversations to save the family caregiver time.
The Caregiving System Navigator training includes these tools which become three plans to use with family caregivers:
- The Help Plan, which determines the help that's needed.
- The Care Plan, which matches the needed help with benefits, services and programs to create a care plan.
- The Evolving Care Plan, which updates the care plan when care needs increase, benefits change and family dynamics interfere.
In addition, you learn how to help family caregivers recover from difficult days and heal from heartbreak.

Certified Caregiving Guide Training
As a Certified Caregiving Guide, you empower family caregivers with skills, tools and knowledge. You complete the Guide training after the Navigator training.
As a Guide, you teach family caregivers how to manage their experiences by delivering The Caregiving Years, Navigating the Caregiving Stages and Systems, our evidence-based proprietary program.
Attendees to The Caregiving Years, Navigating the Six Caregiving Stages presentation all showed improvement in their ability to cope and in how they see their future. The improvement happened even to attendees already connected to resources, like ongoing support group meetings.
Our research shows that as a result of completing training on the six caregiving stages, family caregivers:
- Understand their caregiving emotions are normal
- Feel empowered to continue in their caregiving roles
- Feel connected to answers about their caregiving questions
- Can begin to plan for their future
- Can begin to prepare for what may come next during their caregiving experience
- Can implement coping strategies during times of stress.
The Six Caregiving Stages has been shared and presented across the world, including in Qatar, India, Israel, Trinidad, Canada and New Zealand.
You'll join Denise for six hours of live, virtual training. You can choose when you join the virtual training, which we hold on the third and fourth Monday for three hours beginning at 2 p.m. ET (1 p.m. CT, 11 a.m. PT).
