Become a Certified Caregiving Systems Navigator

As a Certified Caregiving Systems Navigator, you help families find the resources, services and support they need as they manage the care of another.

You connect families to resources.

When we help and care for a family member, we navigate 17 Caregiving Systems.

It's why we need a professional like you to connect us to resources which can help.

As a Certified Caregiving Systems Navigator, you help family caregivers find what could help.

Our training is especially timely given Medicare's decision to reimburse system navigators beginning in 2024 for helping families on behalf of the patient.

This training program is for social workers, Community Health Workers, peer support specialists and other professionals who support family caregivers through case management services, a medical clinic, a home health organization, a palliative care program, a house of worship or a non-profit.

If you would like to offer this service through a business you start, consider our Certified Caregiving Consultant or Comfort Care Family Coach training. These coaching and consulting programs include this training.

More than 30 Years of Insights

Denise M. Brown began supporting family caregivers in 1990 with strategies, solutions and ideas. Her experience inspired her to develop concepts, like The 6 Caregiving Stages and The 17 Caregiving Systems, to empower family caregivers to manage their complex and complicated situations.

Denise also navigated systems as she cared for her parents. She cared for her mom, who died in August 2022, for seven years. She helped her dad, who died in July 2023, for 19 years. She organized home care, home health, palliative care, short-term rehab, hospital discharge plans, medical equipment and supplies and hospice services.

Because of her experiences, Denise learned that system navigation involves so much more than just the services we use. Family caregivers need help within navigating their family system, their communities and their workplace as they organize and manage caregiving needs.

Strategies to Navigate the Systems

System navigation is confusing, exhausting and discouraging for family caregivers. With your support, you can connect them to solutions. With our tools, our Caregiving Wheels, you lead effective conversations to save the family caregiver time.

The Caregiving System Navigator training includes these tools which become three plans to use with family caregivers:

    1. The Help Plan, which determines the help that's needed.
    2. The Care Plan, which matches the needed help with benefits, services and programs to create a care plan.
    3. The Evolving Care Plan, which updates the care plan when care needs increase, benefits change and family dynamics interfere.

In addition, you learn how to help family caregivers recover from difficult days and heal from heartbreak.
