Caregiving Listener Project on November 21: Why Is Caregiving So Hard?

A Google search on “caregiving” turned up an AI-generated answer to a question that stopped us cold: why is caregiving so hard? We wrote about it and loved reading your responses across Caring Our Way, LinkedIn, and Substack. We want to continue that conversation, so it’s the focus of our next Caregiving Listener Project™ on the morning of November 21. Our event will take place during National Family Caregivers Month.

During our event, you’ll connect with a trained Volunteer Listening Artist for a private 20-minute conversation about what makes caregiving hard for you. Plan to spend about 30 minutes with us, start to finish. With your approval, we’ll record your conversation but your comfort matters most, so you’re welcome to join and share without having it recorded. Your story will be anonymously compiled into a report on the real cost of caregiving to amplify our other advocacy efforts, including the value of your caregiving work. We are working to create effective support for you and to reimburse you for your caregiving work. We’ll bring what we learn to the same tables where we ask Medicare and state legislatures to recognize and support you.

Our event will take place from 9 a.m. ET (8 a.m. CT, 6 a.m. PT) until 1 p.m. ET (Noon CT, 10 a.m. PT). You’ll schedule your time with us when our calendar opens on October 15.

Story Tellers: a 30-minute time commitment, including a 20-minute conversation.

Volunteer Listening Artists: volunteer for an hour and connect with two Story Tellers. You’ll also complete our two-hour training prior to the event.

Our advocacy only happens because you tell us about your experiences. You help us advocate for you to be reimbursed for your work and to receive more effective support.
