Ask Your State to Strengthen the CARE Act
The CARE Act, law in 40+ states, already requires hospitals to notify the family caregiver before a caree is discharged. It stops short of connecting that family caregiver to real support. We're asking state legislatures to add one thing: a mandatory referral to caregiver coaching within that existing discharge notification. Here's how to ask, in your own words.

Calculate My ValueA few tips that help
- Keep it to one page. Legislators and their staff read a lot of mail.
- Lead with your own experience before the policy detail. It's the part they'll remember.
- Ask for something specific: a referral requirement inside the existing discharge notification, not a new program.
- If you don't hear back in two to three weeks, a short, polite follow-up is completely normal.
- Consider asking for a short call or meeting with their staff. Many offices say yes.
